24 Pushups!

So, after the regular work last night, I managed 24 pushups (sets of 3) from the floor!  So excited.  What a feeling.

I feel as though these personal training/strength classes are really working out for me.  I’ve come a long way since last February, and I’m signing up for another 40 PT sessions starting early January, continuing with Strength Class (might add L&F back in, not sure yet), and getting back on the meal plan for 2010.  I want to see where I can get to by July 1, 2010 – 3 years since I started my transformation.  I know I can achieve whatever I set my mind to!

I want to say a big thank you here to Brad for helping me so much.  He really is a pretty awesome trainer at Greco.  He helps so many of us achieve our goals.  I hope he finds it as rewarding as we all do.

Progress…

So, I was able to get through a few more sets of pulldowns at 90lbs tonight.  Getting the hang of it for sure.  It’s slow, but steady progress.  And for my pushups, Brad has moved me to the floor for some now, working my way down by stacking some small plates on the floor to lower down to.  As it gets better, I just take plates away and I will be able to get all the way to the floor.

Did squats tonight too in class.  Those are still proving to be difficult enough.  I feel good some days doing them and not others.  I’m still working in and around the 70-75lbs range, when I think I should have progressed further…but I guess if I was doing them more regularly it would be a more significant change.

Problems with the “free fall”

I seem to have a problem with letting the weight bar (with or without weights) go into “free fall” mode when doing bench presses.  I have to work on making it a controlled descent and then power up to lift the weight.  When you’re in the middle of it, it’s hard to remember everything, but it becomes a familiar feeling that you have in your muscles.  It’s actually much harder to do a controlled movement when the weight wants to drive it down as fast as possible, but I’m guessing that this is the mechanism used to build the strength….I’m guessing.  Brad keeps telling me that I have to watch this….

So much to take in and learn, but it’s great…

Scott Abel

So, along with Thomas Moore and Henry Rollins, I emailed Scott Abel the other day.  You can check out his site and his blog (his blog is great).  He emailed me back RIGHT AWAY and was interested in participating in the leadership seminar I’m devising: The Art of Leadership: Body, Heart, Mind & Soul….I have a few more hours of work to polish my proposal and then I’m going to send it off to him.  Thomas Moore is already interested too.  This will turn into a really cool series….I’m very excited.


Signing up for another round!

Got the info tonight for another 40 sessions at Greco for Personal Training.  It is on sale too!  Yahoo!  2010 is looking better already.

Tonight’s Strength Training wasn’t as tough going as it has been, but it was good.  Feeling strong is a good feeling…..

Update (Dec 22)…Considering last night didn’t seem so hard, why do I hurt today?  Worse than most after days?  Why?


WOO-HOO

I just completed by Personal Training Exam.  Just one more review (because I think I’ve done too many) and I will hand it on tomorrow!  Yipee!  Then, we will wait for the results.
